3 Monkeyland Films Headed to Toronto Film Festival

Mixing began today on the feature films "Everthing Must Go", and "Dirty Girl", both set to premiere at the Toronto Film Festival Next Month. Directed by Dan Rush, EMG stars Will Ferrell and screens in the Special Presentations Category. "Dirty Girl" stars Juno Temple, Milla Jovovich, William H. Macy and Dwight Yoakam and premieres as part of the Discovery Series.

Also screening at the festival is "Kaboom", Gregg Araki's latest feature which premiered earlier this year at the Cannes Film Festival. Monkeyland is proud to have done the Sound Design, Editorial and Mixing on all three films.

Busy summer on the Indie Front

Monkeyland has been busy this summer providing sound design, editorial and mixing on a number of projects. Indie films recently mixed here include "The Bad Penny", "818", "Haunted Changi", "Fred", "Highland Park", "Gun" and the animated feature "Animen".

Meanwhile, sound design and editorial has begun on the features "Losing Control", "A Buddy Story", and "The Devil Inside".

Keeping busy on Television with Reality, Game Shows

Monkeyland has been busy on the Television front lately, recently completing 40 episodes of Nickelodeon's 2nd season of "Brain Surge". The top rated show was mixed by Monkeyland's Sean Madsen and premieres today.



Also mixing this month is the first season of Food Network's "Kid In A Candy Store", Bravo's 3rd Season of "The Rachel Zoe Project" and the TLC Special "Extreme Food Sculpting". Monkeyland is handling all editorial and mixing.

Mixing Begins on Lost Boys Sequel

Mixing began this week on Warner Premiere's "Lost Boys: The Thirst." This is the 2nd sequel to 1987's "The Lost Boys", (the first was 2008's "Lost Boy's: The Tribe") with all sound editorial and mixing on both completed at Monkeyland.

Weinstein Co's Piranha 3D in for ADR

Elisabeth Shue, Christopher Lloyd, Adam Scott and Jerry O'Connell were all here at Monkeyland this week recording ADR for the upcoming "Piranha 3D", which hits theaters

Headed to Cannes

Mixing at Monkeyland began today on Director Gregg Araki's latest feature film "Kaboom", which premiere's as part of the official selection at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival later this month.

Also headed to Cannes is "Stay Cool", which recently completed mixing on Stage A with Kelly Vandever. Comedy stars Winona Ryder, Hilary Duff, Sean Astin, Chevy Chase & Jon Cryer.

Recent new releases on
DVD and Blu-Ray


In theaters this past summer, Marcus Dunstan's horror/thriller "The Collector" was released this month.

Also out on DVD and Blu-Ray are drama "Tracing Cowboys" (March 23rd) and Warner Home Video's "Preacher's Kid". Released theatrically earlier this year, the drama/musical stars Letoya Luckett and Tank.

Busy month of ADR at Monkeyland

Our two ADR stages were very busy this month working on a variety of projects including the features "Columbus Circle", "Easy Rider 2", "Black,White & Blues" & "Fool For Love" as well as Nickelodeon Television hits "iCarly" and "Victorious". Actors in for the sessions included Beau Bridges, Jason Lee, Amy Smart, Selma Blair, Kevin Pollak, Michael Clark Duncan, Sheree Wilson, Dustin Nguyen and Bobby Ray Shafer.

Monkeyland Nominated for 2 MPSE Golden Reel Awards

Our Monkeyland Editorial team has just been nominated by the Motion Picture Sound Editors for 2 Golden Reels at this year's awards ceremony set for February 20th at the Westin Bonaventure Hotel. We have been nominated for Best Sound Editing: Long Form Dialogue and ADR in Television ("Scooby Doo! The Mystery Begins") and for Best Sound Editing: Direct to VIdeo for the 20th Century Fox feature film "Wrong Turn 3: Left For Dead".

Headed to Sundance 2010

Monkeyland is proud to announce we have just finished editorial & mixing on the documentary feature "Climate Refugees" which will be in competition at the Sundance Film Festival later this month. Film was mixed by Trip Brock & Klye Tilbury on Stages A & E.

Also headed to Sundance is Lisa Choldenko's latest feature "The Kid's Are All Right". Mixers Patrick Giraudi & Frank Gieta recently completed the mix for the festival on Monkeyland's newest Stage B. Film stars Annette Benning & Julianne Moore.

Just completed editorial & mix on Derek Magyar's independent feature film "Flying Lessons" which premieres next month at the Santa Barbara Film Festival. Film was completed on Monkeyland's Stage F.

Deluxe Digital Studios were on Stage A at Monkeyland this month, Printmastering many of the foreign language versions of the recently released film "Alvin and the Chipmonks: The Squeakquel".

Film & Television Shows in recording ADR at Monkeyland this month included "Rising Stars", "The Assignment", "Double Wedding", "Lifted", and "iCarly".

October Highlights

Monkeyland just completed final mixing on "The Smell of Success". The comedy, directed by the Polish Brothers, is a period piece and stars Billy Bob Thornton, Tea Leoni and Kyle MacLachlan.

Mixing continued on the upcoming dramatic feature "Drunkboat". Film stars John Malkovich, John Goodman and Dana Delany.
